Save the Date:
The New Hampshire Travel Council will present its annual “Governor’s Conference on Tourism” May 6 & 7, at the Sheraton Harborside Hotel in historic Portsmouth.  The multi-day conference is New Hampshire’s largest and most important industry gathering for tourism professionals.  From a keynote speech by veteran Disney executive Dennis Snow to an awards dinner where the Governor’s Annual Awards are presented, the event is a non-stop learning opportunity for NH tourism entrepreneurs, officials, professionals and service providers. 

The conference opens on Thursday, May 6, with the presentation of the state’s official marketing campaign by the Division of Travel and Tourism Development (DTTD.)  The opening day’s agenda features the address by Mr. Snow who worked his way up from the front lines at Disney to eventually launch the Disney Institute, the company division that teaches major corporations in customer service and has extended Disney’s influence outside of the tourism industry.

Dear Members and Friends of the NH Travel Council:

The Travel Council is extremely excited to announce a new benefit to allow you better access to information that could have a direct impact on your business.  Starting this week, we will be providing a weekly legislative update on bills in the NH Legislature affecting the tourism industry.  Our goal is to provide this service as an educational and informational component to Travel Council membership.   The Travel Council will not be advocating for or against any piece of legislation, but rather will provide a brief explanation of the bill, a direct link to the bill, the committee which will be making a determination of the future of the bill, and the current status.  We strongly urge you to follow through the link to learn more about what bills may affect your business.

To add further benefit, the NH Travel Council will be conducting regional educational / training sessions in the next few months on how to advocate effectively.  We also plan to hold a session on advocacy at the 2010 NH Travel Council’s Governor’s Conference on Travel and Tourism.  (Save the Date:  May 6 and 7 at the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel!)  You will learn how to become actively involved in or monitor a bill that could positively or adversely affect your business.  As the industry becomes more involved in what is happening in Concord, our representatives will also gain a better perspective on the importance of our industry.  As we all know, the more we speak in a collective voice, the louder our voice becomes – which is one of the best ways to facilitate change and make our industry stronger and more profitable.
